  • Hand washing care is needed to help preserve the wood. Only hand wash with dish soap and warm water. Never put in a dishwasher, as the drying cycle dehydrates the wood too rapidly and the cleaning agents can age the wood surface prematurely.

  • I do not recommend using vegetable oil on your wooden surfaces or spoons.  Vegetable oil does not cure and can go rancid over time.  Always remember to use non-toxic food-safe oils on any untreated wood surface or utensil.  Mineral oil is a great alternatives for those with nut allergies.  The three most common polymerizing oils that will harden to form a solid material without chemical drying agents are: Tung oil, Linseed oil, and Walnut oil.  Only walnut oil will harden without darkening, yellowing or clouding.  Wood should look like wood, not plastic!

  • I apply a natural food-safe pure tung oil.  Pure tung oil is most often used on wooden toys, wooden bowls, and wooden cutting boards.  Tung oil is durable and will help repeal water and sauces away from the wood surface while giving the wood a durable surface.

  • No, the wood I use is NOT treated with any chemicals before or after making the utensil.  I keep all the utensils I make 100% food-safe.

  • All of the wood I use comes directly from managed forest land and is not recycled or reclaimed.

  • NO, The wood I use to make my utensils is solid domestic hardwood NOT laminated wood.

  • No, because the humidity and moisture of the mouth will degrade the wood quickly that would lead to wood grain fracture and splintering. I do not recommend using a wooden spoon or other wooden items for baby teething. Splinters will result, and splinters in the mouth are no fun. There are better options for teething.

  • I buy wood locally from suppliers that are FSC certified.
